Case studies

Stranded assets, brought back online.

A selection of UK sites we have repowered or acquired. Site identities are anonymised at owner request; technical detail is representative of real projects.

01 · Repowered

Scottish Borders

Asset
Pre-2013 5kW turbine → Ryse Energy G-11
Capacity
11 kW
FiT remaining
13 years

The challenge

Original turbine head had failed after a gearbox fault. Owner faced a five-figure repair bill on an asset already out of warranty, with FiT income paused.

What we did

We took ownership of the FiT entitlement, kept the existing tower and foundations after non-destructive testing, and installed a Ryse Energy G-11 head.

Outcome

Site back online within months. Landowner receives free on-site electricity for the remainder of the FiT term with zero maintenance liability.

We had written the turbine off. Access.Energy took the headache away and we still get the power.

02 · Repowered

Mid Wales

Asset
Legacy 6kW turbine → Ryse Energy G-11
Capacity
11 kW
FiT remaining
11 years

The challenge

Manufacturer of the original turbine had gone out of business. No spares, no engineers, and the site had been generating nothing for over a year.

What we did

Asset purchase plus repower with a G-11 on the existing 15m tower after structural assessment.

Outcome

From stranded asset to consistent generation. The farm now offsets its dairy parlour load during daylight and windy nights.

03 · Acquired

North Yorkshire

Asset
Working 10kW turbine — direct purchase
Capacity
10 kW
FiT remaining
12 years

The challenge

Owner wanted to liquidate the asset ahead of retirement but did not want to lose the on-site electricity benefit for the incoming tenant.

What we did

Structured a direct purchase that transferred the FiT to Access.Energy while preserving free electricity for the property.

Outcome

Owner exited cleanly with a lump sum. Tenant continues to benefit from on-site generation under the new arrangement.
